Run Fight or Die: Reloaded End of Year Update
over 5 years ago – Mon, Dec 31, 2018 at 11:36:08 PM

Hey there Run Fight or Die: Reloaded backers!

An update for you before the calendar turns from 2018 to 2019 on the game's progress as it'd been about a month since we'd last provided one.

There have been a couple of significant changes as we've moved closer and closer to getting the game print-ready.

Gameplay Change

In testing the game and final development, our team noticed a recurring team that wasn't making exploring locations valuable enough.

As a reminder, in Run Fight or Die: Reloaded, you score points by:

- Followers alive at the end of the game

- Your remaining health at the end of the game

- Zombie tokens generally earned throughout the game by attacking the mutant zombie

To increase the appeal of the locations, we've added a fourth type of scoring earned primarily through the location deck. When you execute the positive effect of a location card, a benefit you will sometimes get in addition to that positive effect is a leadership token. The idea is that you did something for your band of followers and you've earned a nice bonus as a result.

Leadership tokens will provide you a variable number of victory points... anywhere from 1 to 3.... and aren't revealed until game end.

These will be included on the punch boards in the base game, although they aren't listed on the campaign page.

Additional Work

Rulebooks are currently going through several rounds of edits and final layouts on characters and components are nearly complete. We're hoping to get those wrapped up by the first or second week of January. We recently received a couple of pieces of supplemental art needed for cards.

Updated Timeline

It's unclear based on that what the exact timeline is going to be for production/shipping. Our goal is to beat Chinese New Year and if the game can be completed and shipped by then, we should be able to deliver on time. If not, then it's possible delivery will end up being pushed later into spring.

As we know more, we'll keep you updated.

Survey Lockdown

Surveys and the pledge manager will remain open for now, but we'll soon be approaching a point where we need to lock down orders (not addresses) to get an accurate count to provide to the manufacturer.

If you have yet to fill out your pledge manager (about 9% of backers right now), please do so as soon as possible. Send us a message on Kickstarter if you didn't receive the link.

Developing on the Road - Follower Cards
over 5 years ago – Thu, Nov 29, 2018 at 12:38:36 AM

Hey there Run Fight or Die: Reloaded backers!

We're here in Philly prepping to enjoy not only cheesesteaks, but also PAX Unplugged this weekend.

Come say hi!
Come say hi!

While we aren't in town, development work on RFOD: Reloaded hasn't stopped....

Development on the Road

Full room lighting is for suckers
Full room lighting is for suckers

Our head of game development Josh has brought Run Fight or Die: Reloaded on the road with him. A big focus this weekend alongside the convention is making sure the solo campaign you all unlocked gets the extra attention it deserves. Right now the changes being made are effects level ones.

One other thing that may intrigue you..... the intent of this solo campaign is to be difficult. Currently, there are three modes. Hard... Harder.... and Impossible. Hope that doesn't turn too many of you away!

This is all as part of a push to get the game to the printer before the year is over! It certainly seems doable although it does necessitate getting that extra work in wherever and whenever we can.

Follower Cards

While gameplay work is ongoing, there are other pieces that need to fall into place.

We've previously shown you the new follower art we've received independent of how it will look on the cards themselves. Now we have a couple of near-final examples with flavor text to share!

Items, Items, Items - Solo Development - Zombies and Vikings?
over 5 years ago – Thu, Nov 08, 2018 at 11:51:51 PM

Hey there Run Fight or Die Reloaded backers!

We're past the spooky season of Halloween and hope none of you had to endure any terrible zombie attacks (or terrible-looking zombie costumes).

A couple of quick updates for you.

Item Art

Everything you need in one place
Everything you need in one place

We've received back new art for the items for the game. You can see a wide array of stuff there, from a chainsaw to binoculars.

Something that might not be 100% obvious at first glance are all of the items you helped unlock. There's Fireworks, a Lawnmower, a Flashlight and a Barricade. You'll need all the help you can get to survive ;-)

Solo Development

As mentioned earlier, the primary thing we're still working on gameplay-wise is the solo side of Run Fight or Die: Reloaded. Here's a look tonight at our head of game development Josh Lobkowicz's table where we have the game set up. This is one of our chief development focuses right now. If you're curious to check it out and happen to be in the St. Louis area, we're open to the public for game night every Tuesday night here at 2079 Congressional Drive.

Zombie Vikings?

You came to this campaign for zombies, so I don't want to mix in too much in the way of vikings... But you may know us from our hit game Champions of Midgard, which did feature a touch of the undead (draugr anyone?).

Well now the sequel to that game, Reavers of Midgard, is live on Kickstarter. Come check it out here!

That's it for now! Thanks for being awesome!

New Location Art
over 5 years ago – Tue, Oct 30, 2018 at 10:32:22 PM

Hey there RFOD: Reloaded backers,

It's been a few weeks since we've been in touch! Development is ongoing behind the scenes, primarily on the solo campaign, but we have some lovely location art to show you from that game. These are places that have either good effects or bad effects in your quest to survive the zombie apocalypse.

Let's take a closer look at a few of these... The one that triggers the end of the game (one of three ways it can end)... is the Town Line.

The two others I'll give you a closer look at are the two that you helped us unlock.... "Crystal Lake" and "Cabin in the Woods".

That's it for now. If you haven't already, please fill out your survey in BackerKit so that we can deliver this game to you on time (or as close to it as possible).

Thanks and all the best!

New RFOD Art - Followers - Mutant Boss
over 5 years ago – Fri, Oct 05, 2018 at 09:06:46 PM

Hey RFOD: Reloaded backers,

The leaves are changing here in St. Louis, but the cooler weather isn't slowing down work on this game.

At the risk of sparking another backer debate, we wanted to show you some of the new follower art we've received. There are a wide array of allies (and potential hindrances) that await you in the followers deck, but holding onto their support is necessary if you want to get the points needed to win.

We've also received art back translating the mutant zombie miniature into art. This is less important for backers as you're getting that mini, which is meant to replace the disc when you're playing. However, this art provides a nice model you could follow if you choose to paint your mutant zombie mini.

That's all for now! A reminder that, if you haven't already, please fill out your survey on BackerKit so that a) we can send you your game as soon as it's ready and b) you're not subjected to increased shipping costs or possible cancellation of your order.

Thanks,

Alex - Grey Fox Games
